Pitta Skin Care (For Sensitive Skin)

Pitta Skin Care (For Sensitive Skin)

According to the world of Ayurveda, each of us belongs to a particular “dosha”. The combination of natural elements that comprises our own dosha can reveal a great deal about our personal health and wellbeing. With each of the three doshas, there are particular characteristics of the skin that will enable anybody to create a skincare routine that keeps their dosha skin type in balance.

If you are a Pitta skin type, you will typically have skin that can be easily aggravated and will flare up often. The cause of the inflammation of the skin could be anything from the food you are putting into your body through to an excessive amount of sun exposure. If your Pitta skin is imbalanced then you will find yourself breaking out into rashes and experiencing acne.

Because of the easily inflamed skin of the Pitta type, a skin care routine of a Pitta always has to focus on cooling elements. This begins with diet, and by consuming foods and drinks that encourage cooling of the skin, many of the typical breakouts of the Pitta skin type can be avoided altogether. Foods that you should actively seek out include sweet and juicy fruits such as mangoes, melons, and peaches. Turmeric is a great spice to add to foods as it has cooling properties. And alcohol and caffeine consumption should be kept to a minimum as these will aggravate Pitta skin.

In terms of products you apply to the skin, these should also have cooling and anti-inflammatory properties. Neem is a herb that can be digested but that is also used in soaps and cleansers and has extremely powerful detoxifying and anti-viral properties that are superb for keeping Pitta skin balanced. Other ingredients in cosmeceutical skincare products that you should look out for include turmeric, sandalwood, and lavender.
